Apple Blossom

Joy of joys the apple blossom has opened in the last few days, this is the crab apple Malus John Downie it makes lovely ruby orange jelly which is glorious on toast. And, at least in our house, is also a secret ingredient in many other jams and jellies, the high pectin in the fruit helps get a good 'set' without affecting the flavour.  It helps the bramley planted next to it get a good fruit set too.
