Once widespread throughout the country the Scottish Wildcat is now on the brink of extinction in Scotland. Due to a sad history of habitat loss, persecution and, more recently, interbreeding with our domestic cats, it has now forced them to a point where the population has too few of them left to form a self-sustaining population.
