How volunteering got me the job
Beth Aucott is now a Warden with RSPB but she wouldn’t have got there without the help of volunteering.
Beth left university a Master of Science but soon realised that she had no skills or experience that set her apart from the thousands of other job seekers. She could use a whole host of computer programmes, understood the science of numerous ecological processes and could carry out research but apart from building the odd bat box she had no practical experience of conservation.
After a year with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust Beth had encountered all the practical work they could throw at her, getting an insight in to all areas of conservation work and very wet at times! Read her story here
