OK, enough is enough

It's said that "there's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing".  But no one has mentioned how many sets of 'appropriate clothing' one person needs.

Will my boots ever dry out?

I think my waterproof trousers might be growing mould, my waxed jacket needs another layer of wax and as for my hat - well it's a shapeless soggy mess!
At least the wet weather had the good grace to hold off for the shows but now it's making up for it - in bucket loads.  Even Hebe is not sure about going out in it much more, although she does enjoy a good towelling off and rub down when we get back - but I'm running out of dog towels!
This morning we had a light frost followed by beautiful if cool sunshine and then saw this tweet:



It's only August (just). Yesterday had the first reports of barnacle and pink-foot geese landing back in the UK, a sure sign of autumn but on the flip side the elder is flowering again and pasque flower has buds.

What on earth is going on?  Spring, summer, autumn or winter, any ideas?  No neither have we.

But what we do know is that this week's edition has just gone to press, it's small in comparison with recent weeks at only 12 pages although there are 48 new paid posts of which 30 came direct to CJS and seven adverts for volunteers plus the usual news and details of website updates.
