Presteigne Dark Skies - International Dark Sky Week
Did you know mid Wales is the last stronghold of the lesser horseshoe bat? In some parts of England it is virtually extinct! These bats are particularly sensitive to light pollution from street lights, actively avoiding them when foraging which puts stress on the species and, as a small and fairly slow flying bat, being illuminated makes them vulnerable to predators such as owls and raptors.
