World Gin Day

Occurs on the second Saturday in June every year. Collins dictionary describes gin as "a strong colourless alcoholic drink made from grain and juniper berries." Those aromatic berries take three years to ripen, so whilst gin might not boast the multi years casking of whisky it takes a lot longer to grow, and it's thought that the name 'gin' comes from either the French or Dutch words for juniper. We have several gin-lovers in the office so when we were sponsoring plants and birds earlier this year adopting some juniper was a natural choice. You can find out more about juniper in with Plantlife and about our juniper sponsorship, and all the others we've taken on this year, here.
