Volunteers Week - find your role with the CJS Volunteers Directory
Volunteering has never been so necessary to keep the countryside thriving and our conservation efforts bearing fruit. The impact of the pandemic on funding has been enormous, however there is hope on the horizon with talk of Green Recovery and several government backed initiatives and grants coming online. As lockdown is relaxed volunteering programmes are once again open for (socially distanced) participants whether that’s for an hour or a year and now there are many things that can be done from home.
If you'd like to join our amazing army of volunteers giving their time and skills to make a massive difference to our countryside, conservation and wildlife see what's needed across the sector and available near you by wandering through our online Volunteer Directory.

Read more on volunteering in the In Depth Features. Articles cover both participant and co-ordinator points of view.
Recently there has been a series of opinion pieces looking at the benefits and challenges of volunteering and raising questions about how we could change the conservation sector's approach to potentially exploitative volunteering and discussions on how the current system excludes many people who, for whatever reason, are unable to volunteer thereby possibly denying them their chance at their dream career.
