It’s National Apprenticeship Week

Apprenticeships have long been seen as a way to get on the job practical training and gather qualifications along the way. How does this differ from long term voluntary placements? CJS classifies a voluntary placement as one which is totally unpaid or has only out of pocket expenses. Whereas an apprenticeship has some remuneration in addition to a significant level of training leading to a recognised qualification. Occasionally there are a few unpaid internships which sort of cover both elements.

Although there are not many of these roles yet, in 2022 we published 106 adverts for apprenticeships, there are more coming through and several organisations, such as the National Trust and our local National Park the North York Moors, are now seeing the benefits and run apprenticeship schemes.
