Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

Very few, if any, of us, have known a monarch other than Elizabeth II, indeed she has been known around the world simply as The Queen. Today is a massive change for all of us, not least the many organizations and charities of which she was patron. We will miss the quiet guidance and gentle matriarchy she brought to all our lives in ways we may only now begin to realise. The monarchy will look and feel very different but our new King and his heir are both well known for their passion for the environment and natural world and we can hope that they will keep bringing these passions to the fore and continue to shine a spotlight on the issues close to all our hearts. 

 

The coming days will be filled with royal protocol and ceremony, including around ten days of official mourning during which all official government business will be paused. On a parochial level this will affect news releases and job recruitment. For CJS the office will remain open, with the exception of the day of the funeral which will be an official 'holiday', and we will continue to provide the service you've come to expect and share the information that comes our way. Service and duty was, of course, what the Queen promised in her first broadcast in 1952, continuing to carry out those Sovereign duties until her final hours.
